Race location: HWY 98 - St. Joe Beach - between Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe, Panhandle Florida: click here for a locator.   If you are coming from Panama City Beach follow HWY 98. When you get to Mexico Beach, look for El Governor Motel on your righthand side. Keep going on HWY 98 and 2.5 miles after El Governor, on your left-hand side will be a park - your race site! For those coming from the other direction; park will be on your right-hand side.

We organize two races a year; in April and September.                         Dates for 2010 are set: April 24 and September 11.

*** Please register early. The race will close if filled up. If you collect t-shirts please sign up early as we have to order sizes approximately 2 weeks prior the race. After that you may not receive the size you wanted ***

NEW *** DO YOU WANT TO HAVE A SAYING? Let us know what color t-shirt you would like to have in your race packets in April! After you register (or if you already have) email to Director@BeachBlastTriathlon.com, subject: "T-shirt" and simply write 'red' or 'yellow'. Color with most votes will get printed!

NEW *** DO YOU WANT TO RACE FREE IN SEPTEMBER? One man and one woman will be drawn out of all participants registered for April race on February 28. That man and that woman will receive a free registration for September race. You must be registered for April race by February 28 to have a chance to win!

BEACH BLAST consists of 4 races; pick your passion and distance:   Sprint Triathlon 0.35 mile swim - 15 mile bike - 3.1 mile run                  Sprint Duathlon  1.2 mile run    - 15 mile bike - 3.1 mile run              Olympic Triathlon 0.7 mile swim - 25 mile bike - 6.2 mile run             Olympic Duathlon 3.1 mile run - 25 mile bike - 6.2 mile run

How it all works                                                                                All 4 races start from the same spot on the beautiful local beach. Olympic races take off at 7:00 am CT and Sprint distance races start at 7:30am CT. Swimmers and runners (duathletes after the first run on the beach) will follow the same course to T1, on the bike, T2, and run. Participants of Sprint distance races will turn around on the bike and run before Olympic participants will. Please watch for signs, flags, and volunteers to lead you.

Having 4 races at once makes Beach Blast a unique event and great   destination for a weekend on the beach!

EVENT SCHEDULE:             

All times in Beach Blast Triathlon & Duathlon are CENTRAL!

FRIDAY

Packet pick up available on Friday 5-8pm CT at El Governor Hotel (click here for more info) and Saturday morning at the race site. 

There will be a first-time triathlete/duathlete meeting at El Governor Hotel 7:00PM (CT). Everyone who has questions about the race, rules or other details is invited!





SATURDAY

Transition area opens at 5:30am CT. Packet pick up and body marking start at 5:30am CT. Only body-marked athletes will be allowed to enter the transition area. Very convenient parking is available in the park, please follow directions from volunteers directing parking.

Pre-race meeting and a word from the USAT Official on the beach at 6:50 am - please attend whether you are participating in Sprint or Olympic race

Race start: Olympic race starts at 7:00am CT. Sprint race starts at 7:30am CT.

Please note: all times are CENTRAL. Be safe and have a blast!

Awards ceremony starts as soon as the last athlete crosses the finish line. Enjoy grilled shrimp, hot dogs, pizza, beer, and door prizes while you wait!

Awards: Awards Categories · Male and Female Overall (1st, 2nd, 3rd) · Male and Female Masters (1st, 2nd, 3rd) · Male and Female Age Groups (1st, 2nd, 3rd) 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+ · Clydesdale (1st, 2nd, 3rd), Athena (1st, 2nd, 3rd) · Masters Clydesdale (1st, 2nd, 3rd), Masters Athena (1st, 2nd, 3rd) · Male, Female, and Mixed Teams (1st Place only). Physically challenged.

Fun stuff: We'll have pizza, grilled shrimp, and hot dogs for you! Of course, beer too! Due to high popularity of our shrimp, they will be available for sale at race site during post-race party. So bring some cash – these shrimp are fresh and delicious!

Discounts: The 'local athlete’ discount ONLY APPLIES IF YOU LIVE IN BAY or GULF COUNTY. Please keep that in mind when registering (you will have to enter a qualifying ZIP code matching your billing address). Thank you.

There will be no race day registrations allowed. You may register the night before race at the packet pick up BUT you will receive a t-shirt or goody bag as we did not have a chance to prepare for your very last minute registration. And add $10.00 to the regular registration fees please.

Where to stay: El Governor Motel in Mexico Beach offers HUGE discount to Beach Blast athletes! Please book your stay as early as possible. This beautiful place with the best sunsets on Gulf Coast fills up fast! (The number of rooms available at this discounted rate is limited; book your room early). Don't forget to mention you are participating in Beach Blast calling: El Governor Motel). The manager of El Governor also donates some  foods delicious foods to our post-race party - thank you!
